Instructor Exam Information
Proctor Tips
We encourage instructors to provide accommodations within their departments when possible as it is beneficial for students and instructors.
- Review accommodation letters for each student. If there are questions on how to implement the accommodation, please contact us to confirm best practices.
- You may want to reserve a room within your department (such as a classroom near where you will be administering the main exam) and have a TA or other staff member supervise for a distraction-reduced environment.
- A white noise machine can help buffer hallway noise.
- The hallway or an instructor’s office is not considered distraction reduced.
- Ensure the accommodated exam is comparable to the one being taken in the main classroom. This may include communicating with the TA/proctor in the distraction-reduced room for announcements, corrections, clarification, etc.
- Protect confidentiality when communicating with students with exam accommodations. If exams are being completed in a separate room, have the students meet there rather than having them leave as a group at the start of the exam.
Exam Administration Details Form
When students generate their accommodation letters, instructors will receive a request to submit their exam administration details. This form allows instructors to verify if they will be proctoring their own accommodated exams or if they need assistance from the Disability Center.
For faculty using the Disability Center, it also provides an opportunity to share administration details/requirements for accommodated exams being taken through the office (exam dates/times, allotted times, materials allowed, etc.).
Please provide the Disability Center this information as soon as possible so we can assist students in arranging their exam accommodations.
Exam Updates & Corrections
Before the exam: We may ask you to visit the Instructor Portal to update the attached materials. Before you replace an exam file, we need to clear existing files. Please let us know if you need to upload new files.
During: If you find an error in your exam materials or need to provide students taking the exam an update provided to the class, please email us the correction. We will print and distribute it.
***When emailing a correction, please draft a NEW email, stating in the subject line: “Exam Correction for __Insert Course__”***
Rescheduling: If a student needs to reschedule an exam, they will need to have email approval from you prior to the reschedule date being approved. Please email if you would like to provide an alternative exam version for the rescheduled date or if they will be administered the original exam.
Exam Delivery & Return
Instructors may upload their exams through the instructor portal in myAccess, email the exam files to mudcexams@missouri.edu, or drop them off to the Exams Office staff in S1 Memorial Union.

We ask that instructors provide us with their exam at least 2-4 days in advance (at the very latest the business day prior to the exam) to allow sufficient time to prep materials for the student.
All completed exams will be returned via email, uploaded back into the instructor portal, or you may come by and pick them up from the Exams Office 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday–Friday.
