Mission

The Disability Center serves as a leader in advocating for equal access and inclusion of Mizzou’s students with disabilities. Through collaboration, we facilitate the provision of accommodations to students, offers educational programming, and provides consultation to the university community.

Vision

The Disability Center envisions a fully accessible and inclusive Mizzou that values disability as a form of diversity and provides students the opportunity to have a well-rounded and holistic college experience.

Values

Universal Design. The Disability Center embraces universal design as the cornerstone to fostering access and inclusion. Proactively incorporating accessibility creates an environment where every individual feels valued and welcomed.
Collaboration. The Disability Center’s mission can only be achieved through collaborative efforts and meaningful partnerships. Actively seeking and developing collaborations with faculty, staff and students across campus creates shared expertise and diverse perspectives.
Student Development. The Disability Center is dedicated to fostering a learning environment that allows individual growth, self-discovery and disability identity development. Recognizing the value of self-determination, we empower students to take charge of their educational journey. Additionally, the Disability Center recognizes that every student is unique and values their individual differences, tailoring interactions to meet their needs.
Growth. The Disability Center’s commitment to growth and achievement is fueled by a dedication to best practices and moving beyond a compliance mindset. The Disability Center actively seeks out opportunities to learn and grow and so is equipped with the knowledge necessary to be creative and continually evolve its work.
