Disability Culture Month
Disability Center Open House
The Disability Center serves as a leader in removing barriers for Mizzou’s disabled students. Come visit our space to learn more about our office, what we do and to connect with others on the topic of ensuring access.

Disability-Focused Research Showcase
Discover the disability-focused research happening right here at Mizzou. This campus-wide showcase highlights a broad range of disability topics, research methods, and academic perspectives from both students and faculty.

State of Accessibility & Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards
Each year, representatives from Mizzou’s disability resources highlight various initiatives that have taken place over the last year, making our environment usable and welcoming to individuals with disabilities. Winners of the annual Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards will also be recognized and honored for their work.

Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards
The Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards were established to honor Mizzou’s former ADA Coordinator, Lee Henson, who dedicated 20 years of service to the university before his passing in 2014. These awards recognize individuals who have:
- Exceeded expectations in effectively addressing disability-related needs on campus.
- Advocated for universal design and ensure environments are supportive of people with disabilities.
- Demonstrated a lasting commitment to enhancing accessibility at Mizzou
Awards are presented in four categories: student, faculty, staff and group. Each September, during Disability Culture Month, the recipients are celebrated at the State of Accessibility & Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards event. Nominations are accepted year-round, with a final deadline of Aug. 15.
