All universities should have a policies regarding students with disabilities that describe facilities and accommodations and explain what services are available to students. Colleges and universities in the United States are required to provide equal access to education and reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Some universities provide additional support and resources to make the transition from high school to higher education as smooth as possible.
