Our Mission

The Disability Center serves as a leader in advocating for equal access and inclusion of Mizzou’s students with disabilities. Through collaboration, the Disability Center facilitates the provision of accommodations to students, offers educational programming, and provides consultation to the university community.

We envision a fully accessible and inclusive Mizzou that values disability as a form of diversity and provides students the opportunity to have a well-rounded and holistic college experience.

Our Values

• Universal Design. We embrace universal design as the cornerstone to fostering access and inclusion. In proactively incorporating accessibility, we create an environment where every individual feels valued and welcomed.
• Collaboration. Our mission can only be achieved through collaborative efforts and meaningful partnerships. By actively seeking and developing collaborations with faculty, staff, and students across campus, we benefit from shared expertise and diverse perspectives.
• Student Development. We are dedicated to fostering a learning environment that allows individual growth, self-discovery, and disability identity development. Recognizing the value of self-determination, we empower students to take charge of their educational journey. Additionally, we recognize that every student is unique and value their individual differences, tailoring our interactions to meet their needs.
